Zeenon is one of the most interesting upcoming extreme metal bands on the Norwegian scene at the moment. Featuring three female members and a male drummer they are rather an unusual additional to an otherwise very male dominated genre. Having an unusual line-up is however not enough to distinguish yourselves as a band but Zeenon does also have a musical concept which also stands out from most of their native colleagues. Formative death metal á la Morbid Angela and Sepultura holds a prominent position in the list of influences that the members of this Oslo based band can present but apart from pure death metal there are also strong industrial tendencies here that make you think of Fear Factory. The front woman Linn Pedersen has an extremely powerful and dynamic voice and she can count herself as being in the same league as Cadaveria, Rachel of Sinister and Angela of Arch Enemy. If given the proper chance Zeenon will no doubt become one of the most important Norwegian metal bands of the first decade of the 21st century. The major metal labels should be fighting over this band right now. It is intense, tight and heavy as hell.
