Anti-Depressive Delivery is a Norwegian band featuring Griffin vocalist Peter Beck and bassist Tom Wahl who has been involved with Bethzaida and Godsend in the past. Now they are in a very different band where hammond organs and moogs play a much more important role than extreme metal. While Anti-Depressive Delivery is being marketed as a progressive rock band they have a very hard edge which is definitely more metal sounding than most bands in the genre. This is heavier than most prog rock fans might expect or be accustomed to but I don't think the band members are too worried about that as Tom Wahl once said in an interview that they have no intentions of becoming a large band but only to play the music they want and enjoy themselves at the moment. That is a decision a musician has to make, either play for yourself or for others. Everyone has a different opinion about that and there is no right or wrong here of course.
The label obviously wants to compare this band to King Crimson and Dream Theater but to tell you the truth they do not remind much of any of these two prog giants. This is much more difficult music, more complex and less fluent and personally I don't quite grasp what they are trying to achieve. It seems like they are a little bit too ambitious for their own good on this record and the music tend to pull in several different directions at the same time which becomes distracting after a while. There is a little bit too much of an indie pop feeling over both the music and the vocals from Pete Beck. You can hear a lot of different sounds but nothing really happens and no song can be easily distinguished from another. Not a bad first attempt but they need to find a sharper identity and add more structure to their song writing.
