Tarot is one of the oldest and most
famous heavy metal bands of Finland and during the first chart week, their new
album "Suffer Our Pleasures" reached spot #10 on the Finnish album chart.
The band has never hit it off big internationally as of yet though but now
they hope to change that with the new album, a record deal with Spinefarm
Records and band founder Marco Hietala having joined Nightwish full time.
Tarot returns from a several years long break resulting from Nigthwish
activities, Janne Tolsa's recording / mastering studio as well as studies and
family obligations of the band members. "Suffer Our Pleasures" is a little
more aggressive and straight-forward than their previous releases and it is a
very coherent solid album that will probably please most old fans of the band.
While performing old-school heavy metal the music still has a modern feeling
with some progressive touches, semi-oriental rhythms and keyboards used in
very cool and unusual ways. If you like old Queensr˙che, Nevermore and Grave
Digger then there is a big chance that Tarot is for you. "Suffer Our
Pleasures" is a heavy and intense album and once again we get the chance to
enjoy the powerful vocals from Marco. There are no tracks that really stick
out from the rest in my opinion but instead it is yet another solid quality
release from these heavy metal veterans.
