PRESENTATION I live in the most remote place in the Philippines, which means that the access of modern world is a real scarce. Growing up, I was always introduced to the lines of music – since a lot of my relatives were really into it and music seems to be like a part of our household already. Even in my youngest years (fall ‘70s/early ‘80s), I’ve already witnessed a load of vinyl from those old men. Somehow, I can afford to say that a wax made by Bad Company, Jeff Beck, Neil Young, and the likes never catch my entire interest. Not later when one of my uncles saw my enthusiasm and introduced me to the likes of Black Sabbath, UFO, Scorpions, Led Zeppelin and so on. I should thank the person since all that was enough to mold my path and made me pick up my first guitar at the age of seven. When I was 10, I’ve bought my first Gatefold LP: AC/DC “For Those About To Rock, We Salute You”. Years passed and I have scored SLAYER who is, perhaps the darkest band that I’ve heard on that time. Whilst, there was Metallica (Kill ‘em All – Master of Puppets) and Kreator (All, except for Coma of Souls, and any LPs after that were no longer an interest) that can rival the intensity made by Slayer – in my opinion and taste only. I never like much of Megadeth as I find them too “groovy” all the time – except for Rust In Peace that blows me away! Still, the Bay Area Thrash and as well as German Thrash were all essential. Right in the following years, my collection is getting bigger and my knowledge about the bands I’m listening to gets wider. Thus, I have added BATHORY, DEATH, DEICIDE, and MORBID ANGEL. Darkthrone, Sarcofago, and (old) Mayhem will be my other best list of pick… Cutting it short, it all started in 1987 when I began writing letters to bands, tried buying stuff on mail orders – which I think is 1990. Nothing serious, until 1994 when I have made my first zine (very bad distribution!). Until now… I still have my whole enthusiasm supporting Metal and I won’t stop. I say that I don’t have any sympathy of becoming an open-minded person. I don’t waste my time spending an hour of listening to Non-Metal genre just to give that material an extensive statement, which they never really deserve to have. My preferences were Dirty Thrash, Brutal Death, Raw Black and the most Sickest Gore bands like (old) Carcass and the new breeds like Exhumed. Any bands of that nature can send me materials for a fair and honest, but still very critical review. And well… it is too overwhelming to work for a Scandinavian Media – although it’s quite weird since I am the first one from 3rd world here… ha, what then?! Anyway, I’m grateful towards Vincent’s opinion about my work, so here I am. Have a nice read, one and all… Snail Mail: Bruno Zamora, Zone 2 Cadiz City, Negros Occidental, 6121 Philippines Started his own webzine called Sick Script in 2004.
